Bee'ah Headquarters, UAE, Zaha Hadid Architects
Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) was selected to design the Bee’ah headquarters in 2013, following an international design competition. Bee’ah Headquarters in Sharjah, UAE has won the prestigious Green Building Award at the Gulf Sustainability and CSR Awards honouring Buro Happold’s work on the project. The sinuous building is designed to echo the shape of sand dunes to help the structure withstand extreme weather conditions and blend in with its desert setting. The active and passive design approach used for the project emphasizes a zero energy strategy by incorporating insulated glazing panels, exterior finishes that reflect sunlight and appropriate positioning of windows to reduce solar heat gain.
Construction of the headquarters was started in 2014 and is scheduled to be completed in 2020.
