World's First Commercial Hyperloop, UAE

Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HyperloopTT) has released details of their plan to create the world’s first commercial Hyperloop system in Abu Dhabi. It will be developed close to the site of Expo 2020 and Al Maktoum International Airport, on the border of the Abu Dhabi and Dubai emirates. The first phase of the project involves the construction of 10km out of a 150km system between Abu Dhabi and Dubai and is expected to be completed in time for the World Expo 2020 in the UAE.

The Hyperloop, which was originally thought up by billionaire Elon Musk in 2013, is a mode of transport that will allow passengers and cargo to be loaded into a pod; which will then accelerate gradually via electric propulsion through a low-pressure tube. The pod lifts above the track using magnetic levitation and glides at airline speeds for long distances due to ultra-low aerodynamic drag.

The capsule will be assembled and optimized in the French city of Toulouse, prior to use in the Emirates with the goal of eventually connecting Abu Dhabi to Al Ain and Dubai at unprecedented speeds, safely, efficiently, and sustainably. If implemented and developed, the Hyperloop will connect people and goods at extremely high speeds, potentially up to the speed of sound (760mph).
