Las Vegas MSG Sphere

MSG Sphere is a wonder of technology and it’s being built in Las Vegas. The Sphere at 366-feet tall and 516-feet wide will be the largest spherical structure in the world. It will have the highest resolution screen in the world at 19,000 by 13,500 pixels. The Sphere’s dome alone weighs 13,000 tons and has a surface area of 220,000 square feet. This $1.8 billion performance venue designed by Populous, was first announced in early 2018 and broke ground later that year. It is scheduled to open in 2023 and will be able to accommodate up to 20,000 guests.

Construction crews have started building the 730-foot steel structure that will form the outline of the entertainment complex's interior LED display and help support the Holoplot audio system. This work will continue into 2022 and, when complete, the 160,000 square foot LED display will be bigger than three football fields and will create for audiences a fully immersive visual experience with a resolution 100 times that of modern high-definition televisions. The audio system, with its 170,000 speakers, will also be able to send content to specific guest locations in the Sphere's bowl.

Inside, as part of the venue's immersive experience technology will be an infrasound haptic system that will use deep vibrations to make guests to "feel” the concert or event. Perhaps the hallmark of the venue will be its 580,000-square-foot fully programmable LED exterior, which will provide a showcase for the MSG Sphere's artists and events. The outside of the Sphere will have about 600,000 square feet of programmable lighting.
